Brand photography London: Savile Row Tailors
/One of my favourite ever brand photography sessions was with Whitcomb & Shaftesbury tailor’s in London’s famous Savile row. It was especially amazing for me as it’s the company my dad works at. He has been a tailor now since he started his apprenticeship at 16… he’s 73 now! He only works one day a week now, he just loves it too much to retire!
The core value of the company is the provision of high quality suits - manufacturing all garments in-house to exacting standards, maintaining total control of the product and meeting their customers’ desire for individuality. Each suit is a bespoke item, designed personally for each client. The owners wanted a bank of images which showed their workspace showcasing their quality service, photos of the head cutter (my dad!) working and close up detail pictures, for use on their website and in marketing materials.
They also wanted some headshot images of the owners and my dad, wearing the bespoke suits they are so well known for. I just love how these images exude the quality of their workmanship.
During his time on Savile Row, dad has cut for some of the most respected names in the world, including rock stars, actors, heads of state and business magnates. He also used to make Chris Eubank’s strange clothes… and has been on TV when Louis Theroux interviewed Chris. You could say that he’s famous in tailoring circles!
