London event and food photography

I absolutely LOVE taking photos of food. Maybe it’s because I like eating it so much?!! I think it’s because I love the creativity it allows me. Being able to set up the food in such a way that gives a great composition. Being able to use my camera settings to get that great bokeh (blur) in the background. Being able to eat the food afterwards. Sense a theme here?!

I was asked to take photos for the lovely Nisreen for her pop-up restaurant Zaad Supper Club at the fabulous event Space at 61 in Nunhead, South London. Have you ever had Palestinian food? It’s sooooo delicious!!! Below is roasted cauliflower with tahini sauce, spiced lentil soup and panna cota with milk, semolina and orange blossom syrup. Yum!! Follow her on Facebook at Zaad Dinner Club for more images of her beautiful food, cooked from a recipe book called Falastin: A Cookbook by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley which you can buy here.

I also love the event photography part of the shoot. Not so much taking photos of people at the event but photos which capture the essence of the event and of course with you in too. For example Nisreen is below showing her preparing the food, but the focus isn’t just on her…. which makes the images seem more genuine and authentic.

When i first started my food and supper club business in London I needed to get some professional brand photos for marketing. Sara-Jane photographed two of my events and produced some very high quality photos that I still use. She is very friendly and easy to work with and made sure to capture exactly what I had in mind.
